Role Overview
As a Senior Underwriter, you will take charge of developing a portfolio of business while mentoring and guiding underwriters and underwriting assistants. Your primary focus will be on analyzing and underwriting a substantial book of business valued between $25-40 million in Commercial Lines. This involves assessing risk acceptability, determining pricing, adhering to underwriting guidelines, and nurturing positive relationships with agencies in your designated territories.

Key Responsibilities
Your core duties will include:

  • Underwriting a GWP portfolio valued at $25-40 million.
  • Assisting the Head of MMB in overseeing underwriting operations.
  • Collaborating with various business units (Claims, Compliance, Operations) to enhance project prioritization, efficiency, and best practices for optimal underwriting performance.
  • Leading and developing a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Professional insurance designations are advantageous.
  • Previous management and leadership experience.
