Transportation Operations Coordinator

As a Transportation Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for exceeding transportation service expectations to regional store networks by actively influencing inbound domestic, import, and outbound shipments. You will ensure communication channels are providing accurate and timely two-way communication with Store Operations, DC Operations, Carrier Management, and Store Support Center Transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer service communications to Stores, DC Operations, Store Support Center Team, and Carriers in a fast-paced environment.
- Utilize effective decision-making in the assignment of freight to dedicated carriers and fleet drivers to maximize utilization per truck and reduce transportation expenses.
- Proactively drive the outbound carriers' performance to ensure timely service.
- Ensure compliance with dedicated drivers.
- Train dedicated carrier personnel and fleet drivers on seal integrity, trip sheet process, recycling cardboard, tote, and repack return process as well as the trailer inspection process.
- Maintain Kronos time system to include auditing/correcting punches and producing reports. Also, enter all drivers' trip expenses into Concur and Tripsheet database.
- Cross-train individual duties with those of peers to ensure all daily accountabilities are met.
- Coordinate the timely pickup and delivery of all inbound tenders (backhauls) ensuring product is received in a timely manner.
- Manage import container pools to ensure the DC has a plan for their efficient unload while eliminating unnecessary expenses.
- Provide accurate data entry in all required management systems and data warehouses.
- Support claims process to ensure carrier/fleet procedures are being followed and departmental credits are received.
- Identify operational trends, provide analysis of root cause, and implement processes to provide continuous improvement to the operation.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Follow set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety.
- Maintain an organized work area and promote a safe working environment within the Transportation department.
- Follow all Company policies and procedures.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
Experience: Three to five years of customer service experience preferred. Previous experience working with DOT regulations, driver hours of service a plus. Must have a working knowledge of Excel and Word, capable of creating and manipulating spreadsheets and must be able to type 25+ words per minute.
Physical Requirements: Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The Team Member should have adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping, and kneeling with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions: Team Member will work in a climate-controlled (office) atmosphere; however, there may be frequent exposure to the Distribution Center (non-climate-controlled). Team Member may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes, and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA.
Availability: Team Member will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
