Our client is seeking a dynamic HR leader to enhance their people operations. The Chief People Operations Officer serves as the champion, specialist, and strategic leader for all systems and processes that influence the workforce. This role collaborates closely with the executive leadership team, advisory councils, finance department, and people leaders to meet their objectives. The individual will oversee processes affecting the employee lifecycle and ensure compliance with employment-related regulations. Additionally, this position supervises one HR generalist and coordinates with an external consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in People Operations (20%):

  • Offer strategic and operational direction for the organization.
  • Engage actively in monthly management meetings.
  • Lead the planning and execution of organizational meetings and events.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with revenue projections.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to monitor progress on key outcomes.
  • Provide essential training for the People Operations Team and hold them accountable to HR standards.

Organizational Development and Culture (40%):

  • Collaborate with firm leaders to clarify the People Operations department's functions and services.
  • Reinforce the company culture through effective communication and initiatives.
  • Design and implement a Talent Development Strategy aligned with growth objectives.
  • Work with senior leadership to ensure managers have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor employee surveys and organizational performance metrics.
  • Partner with communications to enhance internal messaging and employer branding.
  • Establish consistent recognition opportunities for exceptional work.
  • Future: Engage in strategic planning by identifying key leaders and implementing succession planning.

General HR Functions (30%):

  • Lead the People Operations team with strategic and operational oversight.
  • Regularly update the Employee Manual and Policy Guidelines.
  • Develop and implement an employee retention strategy, including satisfaction assessments.
  • Participate actively in daily HR operations, including:
    • Coaching and advising managers
    • Reviewing corrective action recommendations
    • Managing employee termination processes
    • Conducting exit interviews
    • Reviewing compensation adjustments
    • Overseeing performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with Executives and Finance to design compensation and reward systems.
  • Develop strategies to meet diversity objectives.
  • Coordinate annual HR audits to ensure compliance and improve documentation practices.
  • Work with other departments to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and foster a fair treatment framework.
  • Conduct annual market reviews of employee benefits and recommend modifications.

Additional Responsibilities (10%):

  • Deliver training in areas of expertise.
  • Actively participate in advisory councils and committees.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • SHRM-SCP certification.
  • 7+ years of experience in HR roles within growth-oriented companies.
  • 3+ years of experience leading HR functions, reporting to executive leadership.
  • Ability to navigate organizational dynamics for effective decision-making.
  • Proven ability to build departments while executing tactical tasks.
  • Adaptability and mental agility to incorporate feedback for improvement.
  • Diplomatic decision-making skills with a balance of openness to new ideas.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
