Position Overview

The role involves conducting intricate credit evaluations and financial assessments for both new and existing loan applications.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  1. Evaluates financial documents for complex credit applications to establish an initial judgment regarding the degree and quality of credit risk and repayment capability.
  2. Collaborates with sales personnel to design each loan proposal in a manner that safeguards the bank's interests while aligning with the borrower's objectives.
  3. Engages in discussions with applicants and/or authorized third parties, such as the borrower's CPA or financial controller.
  4. Communicates with sales representatives to gather additional information necessary for the underwriting process. Works alongside clients and the SBL/leasing sales team to compile essential credit data for loan and lease underwriting.
  5. Confirms the total and current exposure of existing borrowers within the loan and leasing systems and databases, ensuring compliance with departmental risk parameters.
  6. Prepares credit memoranda that encompass a thorough financial analysis, the client's background, a summary of fiscal results from the current and previous years, and cash flow assessments for more intricate credit cases.
  7. Assesses and presents recommended actions (approval or denial) to senior management, ensuring that all pertinent financial analyses, collateral support, and market data align with the organization's credit policies and standards.
  8. Maintains precise and comprehensive loan documentation, ensuring that all necessary authorizations, compliance checks, and approvals are secured prior to finalizing underwriting documentation.
  9. Fosters strong collaborative relationships with the sales team, leasing, and SBL operations, as well as other internal staff to facilitate effective communication regarding credit analysis and client reviews. Responds promptly to inquiries and requests for information from the team.
  10. Suggests improvements to processes, procedures, or operations to enhance the efficiency of the credit review workflow.
  11. Acts as the primary backup for the manager in approving daily rental funding requests, while also monitoring and updating title information related to daily rental and leasing clients.
  12. Provides training and mentorship to junior credit officers and analysts.
  13. Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in commercial credit analysis or fleet/equipment leasing.
  • Strong foundational knowledge and understanding of traditional financial analysis.

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines set by the loan committee.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities, complemented by strong presentation skills.
  • A collaborative team player capable of thriving in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
