Senior Accountant Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • General Ledger Management: Oversee and manage general ledger accounts, including reconciliation of accounts and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze cost structures, including inventory costing, product costing, and cost variances. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to optimize cost control.
  • Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information and safeguard company assets.
  • Audit Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings as required.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide insights on performance metrics, financial trends, and variances to support management decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the accounting function and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and accounting standards. Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills and professional development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
