FINANCIAL PLANNING ANALYST

The Financial Planning Analyst will play a crucial role in the development, monitoring, forecasting, reporting, and accounting for all SpaceX initiatives. This pivotal financial planning and analysis (FP&A) position offers executive-level visibility and drives spending and contract profitability across our diverse product lines, including Starlink, Starship, Falcon, and Dragon. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments, including production, engineering, sales, program management, accounting, and executive leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the forecasting of essential performance indicators (KPIs), encompassing spending and resource needs for designated business units, such as workforce, capital, and operational expenditures.
  • Project future unit costs in collaboration with cross-functional teams and monitor progress towards achieving cost reduction objectives.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support operational decision-making, from concept development to execution.
  • Take a leading role in internal projects, partnering with peer organizations to identify key business challenges and translate them into financial models and metrics.
  • Prepare and update forecasts for capital expenditures and inventory cash flow.
  • Assist in tracking product costs and conducting inventory analysis, including scrap, inventory obsolescence, and productivity initiatives.
  • Develop and enhance tools for monthly tracking of revenue performance and incurred project costs.
  • Provide insights on revenue and spending variances, along with department-level reporting to business partners.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data for management reviews.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting, finance, or business role (internship experience qualifies).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, applied business statistics, and experience modeling complex non-linear systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or technology environment.
  • Familiarity with reporting, visualization, intelligence, and analysis tools (SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to regularly engage with executive management.
  • Experience presenting analytical results in both verbal and written formats across a multi-disciplinary organization.
  • Ability to frame complex analytical problems for a diverse audience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
  • This position requires full-time onsite presence.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Financial Planning Analyst: $75,000 - $115,000.00 per year.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, including company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks are also included. You may accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year. Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave annually.
