Job Title: Senior Environmental Scientist

Burns & McDonnell, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team in Denver, CO. As a key member of our Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice, you will play a crucial role in supporting, managing, and developing business for environmental surveys, NEPA analysis, land use, and permitting services.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Senior Environmental Scientist to lead and manage technical teams, projects, and business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, planning, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of related consulting experience. You will be responsible for managing and executing environmental and land use projects, developing strategic plans, and providing technical expertise in areas such as NEPA, resource impact assessment, and land use permitting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project management, team leadership, and mentoring of junior staff
  • Preparing studies, evaluations, NEPA, and state documentation for environmental and land use projects
  • Technical report writing and regulatory land use permitting documents
  • Environmental compliance, permitting, and agency consultations
  • Client relationships, business development, and marketing
Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of related consulting experience
  • Experience with resources and regulatory agencies in the western U.S.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with GIS and Microsoft Office suite
What We Offer:

Burns & McDonnell offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $120,000-$170,000 annually, eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program, and a comprehensive benefits package. As a 100% employee-owned firm, you will also have the opportunity to participate in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401(k) retirement program.
