POSITION TITLE: Senior Analyst, Consumer Intelligence

REPORTS TO: Director of Consumer Insights, Ecomm

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt

General Overview:

This position is integral to the Consumer Insights team, serving as a pivotal contributor to Marketing's analytical efforts and category comprehension through the consumer perspective. The role is designed to support informed brand strategies that align with the organization's objectives. The selected candidate will oversee a portfolio of brands, delivering insights on business performance, brand health, consumption patterns, competitive landscape, and consumer and retailer interactions.

Moreover, this individual will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on relevant consumer trends for their assigned brands, providing regular updates on consumer behavior patterns within pertinent segments. Collaboration within the team will be essential to develop streamlined and effective business insights reports and processes that elucidate the performance drivers for the brands.

Mentorship Responsibilities

While this role does not entail direct supervisory duties, it is expected that the individual will mentor marketing and cross-functional colleagues, serving as a subject matter expert and a model of analytical leadership within the marketing department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee comprehensive monthly tracking systems to swiftly identify significant shifts in brand performance and communicate findings to brand leaders.
  • Articulate the current status of brand performance against established goals, analyze driving factors, and suggest actionable strategies for improvement.
  • Generate monthly reports and senior management presentations, including brand scorecards, health assessments, and category performance evaluations.
  • Construct and refine consumption models to uncover correlations between shipments and consumer usage, contributing to monthly production forecasts and financial planning.
  • Develop standardized reporting protocols for routine business and brand performance assessments, particularly following key marketing initiatives such as product launches and media campaigns.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and reports, translating data into meaningful insights and narratives.
  • Responsible for designing, refining, and executing reports on overall category and brand performance, identifying key growth drivers and competitive brand dynamics through the consumer lens.
  • Collaborate with consumer insights to create and maintain consumer handbooks that clarify the characteristics and behaviors of brand and competitor consumers.
  • Integrate actual consumer behavior data from scanning or panel data with stated behaviors and attitudes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency using existing tools and propose recommendations for future improvements, including exploring new data analysis technologies and visualization partnerships.
  • Effectively communicate any changes in data requirements to enhance understanding of business and brand performance.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Data Analysis: Proficient in identifying critical trends and key drivers within complex data sets, translating findings into compelling narratives for diverse stakeholders, including senior management. Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret data and insights effectively.
  • Curiosity: An innate curiosity with a strong desire to explore the underlying reasons behind business performance and consumer actions.
  • Excel: Advanced proficiency in Excel to convert data into insightful visual narratives.
  • IRI/Nielsen POS and Shipment Data: Familiarity with IRI/Nielsen data to understand the interrelationships and implications of the information.
  • Experience with Tableau and other data visualization platforms is advantageous.
  • A proactive, energetic individual capable of meeting deadlines and discerning critical aspects of data.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Marketing or Business.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in Marketing, ideally within FMCG or CPG sectors.
  • Five or more years of experience with Excel; advanced skills in Office 365 are essential.
  • Experience with IRI/Nielsen data is required.

Work Environment: Hybrid Work Model, combining remote work with standard office conditions.

Travel Requirements: Approximately 5-10%, which may include international travel.

Other Qualifications and Safety Procedures: Must adhere to communicated Company, Travel, and Retailer safety protocols to fulfill job responsibilities.
