The Production Engineering Specialist serves as the primary technical authority throughout all phases of Vanguard's operational procedures. This role is crucial in ensuring that products are manufactured accurately and efficiently, acting as the engineering liaison to our clientele. A high level of technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients on various technical matters and address their inquiries.
  • Assist in the quoting process by estimating labor, tooling, and other costs related to customer specifications.
  • Recognize when customer demands surpass internal capabilities and spearhead initiatives to enhance processes, infrastructure, and equipment.
  • Utilize data from process development and internal knowledge to ensure timely feedback and effective communication with customers.
  • Guarantee compliance with all customer and regulatory standards throughout Vanguard's operations.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for defects and yield improvements.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to drive actionable insights.
  • Develop, coordinate, and approve internal product documentation.
  • Assist in resolving supply chain and electronic component issues.
  • Identify tooling and equipment needs, leading their design, procurement, and validation.
  • Communicate and mitigate risks using FMEA or similar methodologies.
  • Provide hands-on support during new product introductions and pilot builds to ensure effective processes.
  • Deliver technical training to technicians and operators.
  • Employ Design of Experiments to establish new processes and enhance existing ones.
  • Support production staff with emerging issues.
  • Collaborate on process improvement initiatives with the team.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred
  • Proficient in interpreting Electrical and Mechanical CAD/Drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of DFX principles for electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Solid understanding of SMT & Through-Hole Soldering, Component Preparation, Automated Inspection Systems, and related processes.
  • Ability to critically assess requirements and collaboratively develop more effective solutions.
  • Experience in setting up and executing Design of Experiments.
  • Strong grasp of Statistical Process Control and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Knowledge of material science relevant to material selection and soldering.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485 quality management systems.
  • Understanding of IPC standards and proficiency in business systems like MES, PLM, ERP.
