Position: CULINARY OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

Position Overview:

The Culinary Operations Supervisor oversees the daily functions of the food production areas within the Dietary Department, ensuring optimal performance and quality service during their shift. This role is integral in promoting a culture of Service Excellence within the organization.

Core Duties:

1. Collaborates with the Director in the recruitment, evaluation, and management of staff, adhering to human resource policies.
2. Provides daily leadership to team members, organizing workloads for Cooks, Food Service Workers, and Dietetic Technicians.
3. Conducts performance evaluations and ensures timely submission to Human Resources.
4. Ensures staff safety by training on emergency protocols and health regulations, participating in incident investigations as necessary.
5. Upholds service excellence standards, fostering a positive work environment and reducing turnover rates.
6. Trains and orients new personnel on departmental policies and procedures.
7. Ensures attendance at mandatory departmental and organizational meetings.
8. Monitors staff competencies and coordinates ongoing education initiatives.
9. Conducts regular inspections of food service areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
10. Prepares for regulatory inspections, addressing any issues identified by inspectors.

11. Maintains knowledge of information management protocols relevant to the Dietary Department.
12. Manages inventory and procurement of supplies.
13. Assists in planning and executing catering events.
14. Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Food Management preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in institutional food service operations.
3. Valid driver's license.
4. Supervisory experience preferred.
5. Ability to coordinate large-scale events.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Proficient in quantitative skills, including measurements and calculations.
8. Capable of effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
9. Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
10. Strong analytical skills for decision-making.
11. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

1. Proficient in reading and writing English.
2. Effective communication skills with various stakeholders.
3. Ability to remain composed under pressure.
4. Physical capabilities including bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.
5. Mathematical proficiency for various calculations.
6. Exposure to cold environments and potential hazards in food service.
