Job Summary

As a key member of the CAMC Health System team, the Admitting Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient admission process. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assess Patient Needs: Differentiate between patients requiring immediate medical attention and those with minor injuries or illnesses.
  • Collect and Verify Patient Data: Interview patients to secure and verify all pertinent admitting information.
  • Enter Patient Data: Enter patient data into CAMC's Central Computer System.
  • Prepare Admitting Forms: Prepare the necessary forms for patients to receive diagnostic and/or therapeutic treatment.
  • Assign Patient Rooms: Assign beds based on the nature of the illness or the type of accommodation available.
  • Manage Patient Records: Sort, file, and distribute patient records. Prepare and disburse admitting forms and related materials.
  • Provide Administrative Support: Perform clerical and receptionist duties as necessary. Escort patients and push wheelchairs. Maintain a patient census log and prepare a statistical report monthly.
  • Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Maintain equipment, lift boxes of supplies, and printer paper.
  • Notify Authorities: Notify the Police or Health Department for the patient as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information.
