Position Overview

The R Street Institute is a prominent free-market think tank dedicated to advancing pragmatic policy solutions. We are currently seeking a Fellow in Governance to enhance our initiatives focused on election policy.

This role involves collaborating closely with the director of the Governance program. As a Fellow, you will engage in critical research aimed at redefining electoral structures to foster better alignment between elected officials and their constituents. Your contributions may include drafting insightful articles on the importance of secure voting environments and participating in discussions with legislators and election officials to bolster public confidence in the electoral process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on electoral reform and related public policy issues.
  • Collaborate with experts both internally and externally on various research initiatives.
  • Adapt communication strategies to navigate the evolving legislative landscape.
  • Engage with government affairs and communications teams to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Participate in ongoing policy analysis training and stay updated with the latest research findings.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing abilities across diverse formats, including op-eds and research papers.
  • Proven capacity for independent research on legal, historical, and public policy matters.
  • Experience in electoral systems, encompassing voter registration, canvassing, and auditing.
  • Outstanding communication skills, adept at engaging various audiences through written and oral presentations.
  • A genuine passion for free markets and the principles of limited, effective governance.
  • A sense of humor and a commitment to personal and professional growth within a dynamic organization.

Work Environment:

This position offers flexibility, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Some travel may be necessary for meetings and conferences.
