Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate interpretation of lectures, discussions, and various activities based on the needs of students;
  • Effectively voice interpret the signs of deaf or hard of hearing students into fluent English for the benefit of other students, faculty, and staff;
  • Collaborate efficiently with fellow sign language interpreters;
  • Uphold a strong commitment to professional interpreter ethics;
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained;
  • Exhibit adaptability to accommodate a variable work schedule based on student requirements, including both daytime and evening hours.

Special Assignments:

May be tasked with additional duties as necessary. May also be required to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Possession of a certified ASL interpreter credential;
  • Flexibility to work hours as dictated by student needs.

Application Requirements:

  • Copy of ASL certification or credential;
  • A fully completed employment application.

Approximately 10 hours of work per week will be based on student needs.
