Position Summary: Under general oversight, this role involves significant responsibilities in conducting safety inspections and supervisory tasks of moderate complexity. The incumbent will engage in related activities as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Information Verification: Assess and confirm the approval or rejection of applications or permits.
  2. Ensure accurate information is provided to clients to address inquiries.
  3. Oversee the issuance of licenses/permits to qualified individuals and manage fee collection.
  4. Supervise the interpretation and coding of driver history data.
  5. Manage the verification and classification of convictions for distribution to relevant state and federal bodies.
  6. Evaluate compliance documents and applications for accuracy before data entry.
  7. Confirm that applications and records are thoroughly assessed for eligibility and liability.
  8. Act as a liaison with officials and specialists to gather information pertinent to licensing decisions.
  9. Oversee the retrieval of photographs for identity verification and accurate license/permit production.
  10. Review documentation for completeness and adherence to standards.
  11. Maintain office tracking systems for correspondence and follow-up actions.
  12. Compile data for periodic reporting.
  13. Approve standard responses to correspondence inquiries.

Administrative Duties:

  1. Develop corrective action plans for performance issues and recommend disciplinary measures as needed.
  2. Evaluate application information for completeness and accuracy to determine qualifications for licenses/permits.
  3. Establish job plans and conduct performance evaluations.
  4. Maintain documentation on subordinate performance for evaluation purposes.
  5. Prepare and submit reports and correspondence as required by management.
  6. Approve financial transactions and maintain records related to inventory and supplies.
  7. Identify discrepancies in records and determine necessary corrective actions.
  8. Conduct interviews with applicants for employment or promotion recommendations.
  9. Facilitate staff meetings and ensure effective communication.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least three years of relevant clerical or customer service experience. Experience may substitute for education on a limited basis. Additionally, candidates must meet specific background clearance requirements and not have any disqualifying criminal offenses.
