Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Youth Engagement will play a pivotal role in the executive leadership team, directing the strategic vision and implementation of youth-focused initiatives. This position will manage collaborations with educational institutions and community organizations while supporting comprehensive development strategies across the organization.

Leadership Responsibilities (30%)

  • Actively participate as a member of the executive leadership team, collaborating with other senior leaders.
  • Provide strategic oversight for all youth engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
  • Foster a workplace culture that emphasizes relationship-building, healthy conflict resolution, and equitable practices.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing team members, enhancing their professional growth and satisfaction.
  • Supervise program directors and facilitate team capacity building through coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Support a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Manage reporting for external funding sources efficiently.
  • Oversee the budget for the Youth Engagement department, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Youth Program Development (45%)

  • Enhance and execute the vision for youth leadership in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Develop innovative programs that respond to community needs and align with strategic objectives.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation and trends affecting youth programming and education.
  • Ensure effective evaluation of youth programs through established metrics and feedback mechanisms.
  • Strengthen partnerships with educational institutions and alumni to assess program effectiveness.
  • Participate in youth programs and engage in case management as needed.
  • Provide advanced training and facilitation for select contracts.

Outreach and Fund Development (25%)

  • Lead the planning and execution of initiatives to achieve annual revenue goals for youth programs.
  • Oversee all contracts with external partners, including proposal development and service agreements.
  • Engage in grant writing and fundraising efforts in collaboration with the development team.
  • Participate in community events to foster relationships with stakeholders and funders.
  • Represent the organization at networking events and community meetings.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven years of experience in youth development, education, or social justice, with at least four years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to innovate and solve problems in youth programming.
  • Experience in developing partnerships with educational and nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong analytical and management skills, with a track record of implementing impactful programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a senior leadership team.
  • Experience in leading and motivating teams while effectively utilizing resources.
  • Expertise in equity and justice, fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Commitment to staff development and career progression for all employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities and address systemic inequities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Familiarity with anti-oppression frameworks.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and another language.
