Job Summary

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Member Experience Representative to join our team. As a key member of our membership department, you will be responsible for increasing membership engagement, growth, and retention. Your primary responsibilities will include strengthening member commitment through authentic personal relationships and delivering excellent service to members, guests, and program participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Membership Engagement
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, volunteers, and coworkers to promote a welcoming and inclusive environment.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to members, guests, and program participants, ensuring a seamless and safe orientation experience.
    • Collaborate with the wellness coach to create a personalized experience for new members, including scheduling and follow-up appointments.
    • Identify opportunities to increase member involvement and engagement, moving them from casual to connected to committed relationships.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Process new member ID cards, issue guest passes, and register members for services and programs.
    • Manage DAXKO reports and assist with the Annual Giving Campaign as directed.
    • Provide administrative support to the membership department, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Customer Service
    • Respond to phone inquiries and address complaints in a courteous and timely manner.
    • Effectively negotiate and resolve customer service issues, informing the supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Self-Development
    • Demonstrate an active interest in enhancing current skills and learning new ones, taking advantage of multiple learning resources.
    • Maintain accreditations and certifications, if applicable, and stay up-to-date on developments within the YMCA.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills and the ability to learn appropriate computer programs related to the position.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong verbal communication skills.
  • Outgoing personality and a desire to be helpful to others.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen administration or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
