Job Summary:
M&J Engineering, a leading provider of multi-discipline consulting services, is seeking a seasoned Senior Construction Inspector to join our team in North Haven, CT. As a key member of our facilities-based projects, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in construction management and inspection.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply contract plans, specifications, and special provisions to ensure compliance with building codes and engineering principles.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify conformance with contract requirements, building codes, and quality assurance standards.
- Perform materials testing and quantity calculations to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Communicate effectively with project engineers, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor and verify construction safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- CCM/CMIT certification, building official, or assistant building official certification (or obtainable within 6 months of employment).
- Desirable experience with CTDOT or other agency projects.
- Familiarity with CSI specifications format and relevant trades experience.
- Considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures.
- Field inspection experience in vertical construction, civil, or related engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with CTDOT Form 818 and addendums.
- Experience with SharePoint, ProjectWise, or Compass.
- Familiarity with design-build, time and materials, and design-build contracts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through data.
- Routine ability to drive a motor vehicle to project sites.
- Ability to climb, enter excavations, walk on irregular surfaces, use a ladder, and work at varying heights and in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to remain stationary for periods at a time.
