Senior Director of Facilities and Engineering

The Senior Director of Facilities and Engineering will lead the development and execution of the overall facilities strategy for Yale New Haven Health, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals and objectives. This role will oversee the management of the health system's 11 million square feet of space, including 7 inpatient campuses and off-site ambulatory facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities strategy that aligns with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Lead the management of the health system's facilities, including engineering and maintenance services, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and maintain system and campus-focused master facilities plans on a rolling five-year basis.
- Develop, manage, and execute capital project budgets, working closely with finance leadership to develop a long-term capital project plan.
- Ensure that facilities engineering services maintain and repair infrastructure and equipment in a coordinated and collaborative fashion, minimizing risk and promoting uninterrupted normal operations.
- Design all system facilities in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient manner.
- Review and monitor progress of general contractor work against contract specifications and construction schedules, ensuring all projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Optimize data analytics to ensure data integrity, robust dashboard and reporting, and efficient work management.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required; Master's degree in business or a related field strongly preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in leading and directing large healthcare facilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a larger portfolio of external vendors and oversee competitive bid processes.
- Ability to communicate in both written and oral form, demonstrate leadership and competency by example.
$170,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience.
Working Conditions and Physical DemandsThe Senior Director of Facilities and Engineering will work in a varied environment, with half of the work performed in an office setting and half in the field. The ability to make frequent trips to construction sites, climb stairs and ladders, and carry plans and documents without assistance is required.
