Position Overview

This role is centered on the Advanced Manufacturing sector, requiring a candidate with exceptional interpersonal communication abilities and robust leadership skills. The selected individual will be tasked with proactively identifying, pursuing, developing, securing, and qualifying business opportunities to drive new revenue streams for Construction Management and Design/Build services. This hands-on management role demands flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment, alongside a strategic comprehension of AEC business operations.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years in business development, with at least 4 years in the construction industry (e.g., General Contractor, Construction Manager, Design/Build).
  • Prior experience in Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing sectors, with familiarity in Design-Build, CM at Risk, and Qualifications Based delivery methods preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively as required by the role.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels and fostering mutual support.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to set and achieve objectives; self-motivated individual.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects effectively while promoting teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support national growth initiatives within the Advanced Manufacturing market, particularly in the Southeastern United States.
  • Maintain regular communication with the VP of Client Growth and Strategy, Regional Office leadership, other Business Development Leads, and Preconstruction teams.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify target companies and organizations within the advanced manufacturing sector.
  • Engage with potential clients, qualifying leads and scheduling appointments through various communication channels.
  • Conduct visits to qualified targets and facilitate personal sales meetings with appropriate BE&K personnel.
  • Provide potential clients with relevant BE&K marketing materials and tailored responses to their specific interests.
  • Prepare qualifications statements and assist in crafting proposals for specific projects in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with local and national civic, professional, and economic organizations that can serve as sources of prospects.
  • Utilize the company's existing client relationship management system effectively and comprehensively.
  • Establish and manage a public relations program that includes marketing and outreach efforts for the advanced manufacturing sector.
  • Represent BE&K at industry trade shows, conventions, and professional gatherings.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings with the leadership team to ensure accountability, assist in coordinating business development activities, and measure progress against the annual sales plan.
  • Collaborate with other business units across the company to maximize overall sales success, prioritizing the collective success of the organization.
  • Attract and recruit top-tier talent for the organization.
