About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Director to join our team at Amtrak. As a key member of our Capital Delivery Infrastructure group, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our major capital improvements, including the Hudson River Tunnel Program and other major programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate management and commercial activities of the program, including procurement and execution of all contracts, contract management, and contract changes.
  • Procure material to support Amtrak force account work.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and analyze recommendations provided by project management consultants.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on program and commercial risks that could impact the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of the program.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team consisting of direct, matrixed, and consultant/contractor contract and procurement practitioners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant work experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mastery level program management practitioner with strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service.
  • Mastery knowledge of competitive procurement processes and regulations.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Mastery with independent judgment and make solid business decisions within scope of the program.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree.
  • Public/private partnership or joint venture experience.
  • Infrastructure construction program management.
  • Experience managing programs in the transportation industry environment.
  • PMP Certification in good standing.
Work Environment

Office building environment. Work in cubicle setting; stand, sit, bend, twist, use file drawers. Sit at computer to complete assignments, projects, and majority of tasks. Ability to work under pressure. Occasional travel as needed.

Communications and Interpersonal Skills

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
