Position Overview:

The primary objective of the Respiratory Therapist is to deliver high-quality respiratory care to our patients, encompassing both routine and advanced procedures through a diverse array of techniques and equipment. This role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and effective communication with all stakeholders. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for ensuring that patient care adheres to the quality standards set forth by the hospital, department, and regulatory bodies.

Accountability extends to maintaining the necessary skills and knowledge to provide safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate respiratory care for patients ranging from neonates to adolescents. Alongside the care team, the Respiratory Therapist plays a crucial role in achieving patient outcomes that align with the high standards of care upheld by JHACH.


Work Schedule:
7am - 7:30pm, weekend work required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' clinical conditions, evaluate progress towards treatment goals, and recommend appropriate care plans.
  • Collaborate with the care team to address patients' respiratory care needs, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Utilize critical thinking and sound judgment to analyze urgent situations and resolve issues effectively.
  • Accurately interpret and communicate patient results to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Document interventions and responses to therapies in the electronic medical record for compliance and utility.
  • Engage with patients and families, explaining therapeutic modalities in an accessible manner that respects individual learning styles and diversity.
  • Work effectively within a team environment, particularly during high-pressure situations with rapidly changing priorities.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), or an equivalent credential.
  • Graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association or to be obtained within the orientation period.
  • Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Compensation:

Salary range: Minimum $29.74 per hour - Maximum $47.58 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on experience and equity for similar roles.
