POSITION OVERVIEW:


The primary role of the Respiratory Care Specialist is to deliver exceptional respiratory services to patients, encompassing both standard and intricate procedures, utilizing a diverse array of techniques and equipment.

This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. The specialist is responsible for upholding patient care standards as mandated by healthcare regulations and institutional policies.

Accountability for maintaining comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for providing safe, effective, and age-appropriate respiratory care across all patient demographics, from neonates to adolescents, is critical.

In conjunction with the care team, the specialist is tasked with achieving patient outcomes that align with the high standards of care expected.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Night shifts, including weekends, are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluate patients' clinical conditions, monitor progress towards established goals, and propose appropriate care plans.

2. Collaborate with the healthcare team to assess and plan for patients' respiratory care needs, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes.

3. Execute various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.

4. Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze urgent situations and implement effective resolutions.

5. Accurately interpret and communicate patient results to facilitate informed decision-making in patient care.

6. Maintain thorough documentation of interventions and patient responses in the electronic medical record system to ensure compliance and utility.

7. Engage with patients and their families, clearly explaining therapeutic procedures in a manner that respects individual learning styles and cultural diversity, thereby fostering collaborative care.


8. Function effectively within a team-oriented environment, particularly during high-pressure situations with rapidly changing priorities, to ensure the highest quality of patient outcomes.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

• Valid Florida Respiratory Therapist License.

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or an equivalent credential.

• Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved Registered Respiratory Therapy Program.

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained during the orientation period.

• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification if working in a specialized unit.
