Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with researchers to design and execute bioinformatic analyses tailored to specific research questions. This involves utilizing software tools for standard bioinformatic analyses across diverse sequencing technologies, including short-read and long-read.
  • Manage and document all stages of data analysis across multiple research projects, ensuring clear communication and collaboration with investigators from diverse backgrounds. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Develop and implement custom bioinformatic projects for researchers, encompassing more sophisticated protocols, tools, and pipelines as needed. This includes staying abreast of cutting-edge advancements in the field.
  • Maintain meticulous records and documentation of analytical methods used for all projects, ensuring reproducibility and transparency.
  • Proficiently utilize LINUX servers and high-performance computing (HPC) resources, including software installation and large-scale data management.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals, leveraging your expertise in bioinformatics and research findings.
  • Provide guidance and training to graduate students and staff members on bioinformatic analyses, software applications, and data management best practices.
  • Develop and deliver engaging online and in-person short courses that combine conceptual understanding with practical data analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics or a related computer science field is required. A PhD is highly preferred.
  • One year of relevant experience in contemporary genomic and transcriptomic data analysis within a LINUX HPC environment, coupled with proficiency in statistical analysis, is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize tasks, ensuring timely completion of project goals while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Fluency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, C/C++) and one language for scientific computing (R, MATLAB, Python) is crucial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
