Position: Senior Plans Examiner

The Senior Plans Examiner plays a crucial role in evaluating construction-related proposals to guarantee adherence to applicable regulations and standards. This position also encompasses responsibilities as the Floodplain Manager for Florence County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and authorize applications, designs, and associated commercial construction projects.
  • Collaborate with various county departments and stakeholders involved in the projects.
  • Oversee County Flood Plain operations.
  • Contribute to the planning of new County facilities.
  • Execute special projects within the department.
  • Facilitate training sessions for department staff.
  • Generate monthly updates on the status of commercial construction projects.
  • As Floodplain Manager, manage the Community Rating System for flood insurance.
  • Conduct site visits for building redesign and inspections post-construction.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in construction management, business administration, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction and building code evaluation.
  • State certification as a Residential and Commercial Plans Examiner is mandatory within 36 months.
  • Certification as an ASFPM Flood Plain Manager is required within 24 months.
Physical Requirements:
  • Involves various physical activities, including lifting and travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Specific vision capabilities are necessary.
