Position: Senior Plans Examiner

The Senior Plans Examiner plays a crucial role in the evaluation of construction-related projects to ensure adherence to established codes and regulations. This position also encompasses responsibilities as the Floodplain Manager for Florence County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and authorize applications, designs, and associated commercial construction projects.
  • Collaborate with various county departments and stakeholders involved in the development process.
  • Oversee activities related to the County Flood Plain.
  • Support the planning and design of new facilities for the County.
  • Lead special projects within the department.
  • Facilitate training sessions for department staff.
  • Generate monthly reports detailing the status of commercial construction projects.
  • As Floodplain Manager, manage the Community Rating System for flood insurance compliance.
  • Conduct site visits for building redesigns and post-construction evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in construction management, business administration, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction and building code inspection or review.
  • State certification as a Residential and Commercial Plans Examiner is required within a specified timeframe.
  • Certification as an ASFPM Flood Plain Manager is required within a designated period.
Physical Requirements:
  • Engagement in various physical activities, including lifting and traveling as necessary.
  • Specific visual capabilities are required for the role.
