The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in administering Human Resources policies and programs, ensuring a balance between employee advocacy and the operational needs of the business.

In this position, you will champion equity, fair treatment, and foster positive employee relations while ensuring adherence to state and federal employment regulations. You will provide comprehensive HR leadership to management in areas such as talent acquisition, retention strategies, continuous performance management, proactive issue identification, and coaching for enhanced leadership effectiveness.

Your understanding of business priorities will be crucial as you build strong relationships with the management team, facilitating informed decisions and improving organizational efficiency. You will tackle complex HR-related challenges independently and serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise management and staff on HR matters, employment law, and develop innovative programs to address management needs.
  • Serve as the HR expert on policies, regulations, and compliance.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts to fill vacant positions effectively.
  • Anticipate and strategize for long-term HR needs in collaboration with business leaders.
  • Lead the development of objectives for HR policies and workforce goals.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies across the organization.
  • Communicate and implement necessary policy changes effectively.
  • Conduct advanced employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, performance management, and exit interviews.
  • Manage sensitive employee investigations with discretion.
  • Oversee workers' compensation processes and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate Leave of Absence programs and transitional work processes.
  • Facilitate employee training on benefits, policies, and workplace conduct.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into HR systems.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage bonus plans, merit processes, and special reporting requests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Understanding of wage and hour regulations.
  • Proven expertise in staffing and employment practices.
  • Knowledge of employee relations procedures and applicable laws.
  • Strong consultative and coaching abilities.
  • Analytical and business acumen skills.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the fitness industry is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as PHR or SPHR are preferred.

Work Environment

  • Office and gym environment, with a significant portion of time spent in the gym. A passion for fitness is essential.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, capable of managing HR functions effectively.

Compensation

  • Salary range of $40,000 to $70,000.
