Retail Operations Manager

The Retail Operations Manager (ROM) at Coffee Uplifts People is a connoisseur of lifestyle, a passionate advocate for culture, a master of customer engagement, a dynamic leader of talent, a keen analyst, strategic planner, and a specialist in gourmet coffee service.

In this role, the expectation is to lead the frontline for the Coffee Uplifts People brand. You will be responsible for cultivating teams and nurturing the brand's culture from the ground up. Essential skills include hospitality, consumer engagement, operational expertise, and managerial proficiency.

The Retail Operations Manager is accountable for the overall performance of our retail locations. Achieving financial and operational objectives in harmony with community, brand, and cultural goals is essential for success.

Your leadership will be pivotal; vendors, community leaders, influencers, and executive management will look to you as the guiding force of this Coffee Uplifts People location. The Retail Operations Manager embodies the vision of the company’s leadership, particularly in relation to retail contributions to the brand's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting and training support staff for the retail location
  • Overseeing financial management and profitability
    • Financial forecasting and revenue analysis
    • Formulating and monitoring operational, sales, and marketing KPIs
    • Enhancing operational efficiency and supply chain management
    • Developing strategic initiatives
  • Supervising direct reports
  • Providing comprehensive reports on business performance against forecasts and objectives
  • Facilitating effective communication with upper management and team members
  • Managing accounts, utilities, and payroll in a timely manner
  • Upholding company standards, values, and commitments
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service and hospitality
  • Balancing overarching brand growth with local retail excellence
  • Guiding the completion of operational tasks while understanding team strengths and weaknesses to ensure consistent delivery on brand promises
  • Maximizing revenue generation across all service streams (e.g., coffee, beverages, food, merchandise, dine-in, takeout, delivery, pre-order)
  • Acting as the brand ambassador for the location

Qualifications:

  • Management experience (minimum 3-5 years)
  • Food Safety Certification required for the relevant state or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Strong understanding of profit and loss statements and their impact
  • Familiarity with online collaboration tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Excel, and/or Numbers
  • Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to prepare and serve a variety of beverages using different brewing methods
