Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist I to support The Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research Initiative (Suicide CPR Initiative) within the Medical and Clinical Psychology department of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and graduate students to develop and conduct research projects on military mental health and suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.
  • Design and execute research protocols, psychological instruments, and surveys to investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential interventions and programs.
  • Process and interpret experimental data, and perform quantitative and qualitative statistical analyses to inform research findings.
  • Prepare research study materials, regulatory board documents, and technical reports for sponsors, as well as written manuscripts for submission to scientific journals and presentations at professional conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of new research protocols and grant applications, and may perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in Psychology (Experimental, Clinical, Counseling, or Social), Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in research, preferably in military mental health or suicidology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with evidence of a strong research background reflected by scholarly publications and/or presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot day-to-day challenges.
  • Knowledge of military mental health, military family mental health, and/or suicidology highly desired.
Working Environment

This position will take place primarily in an office setting, with some flexibility to work remotely as needed.
