Job Opportunity

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Scientist to join the Section on Structural Cell Biology (SSCB) in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR). The successful candidate will contribute to the development of advanced microscopy methods and cellular biology approaches to elucidate the molecular and structural basis of mechanisms underlying normal and disordered hearing and balance.

The SSCB is a dynamic and interactive group of scientists at the forefront of research on communication disorders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a highly collaborative team and leverage the extensive resources and expertise across the NIH's Intramural Research Program to perform interdisciplinary and collaborative research from bench to bedside.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of advanced microscopy methods and cellular biology approaches.
  • Elucidate the molecular and structural basis of mechanisms underlying normal and disordered hearing and balance.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic and interactive group of scientists to advance research on communication disorders.
  • Develop and implement research plans to achieve project goals.
  • Train and mentor laboratory members to ensure the success of the research team.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Postdoctoral research experience in cellular and molecular biology, advanced light and/or electron microscopy, and use of mouse models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong publication record and a commitment to conducting high-quality research.
