About the Position

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist I to support the Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research Initiative within the Medical and Clinical Psychology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and graduate students to develop and conduct research projects on military mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Design and execute research protocols, psychological instruments, and surveys to investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles to potential interventions and programs.
  • Contribute to the thorough review of military suicide decedents' medical, administrative, and investigatory records.
  • Process and interpret experimental data, and perform quantitative and/or qualitative statistical analyses.
  • Prepare research study materials and regulatory board documents, including technical reports for sponsors.
  • Prepare written manuscripts for submission to scientific journals and present at professional conferences.
  • Coordinate and contribute to new grant and funding applications.
Requirements
  • Doctorate Degree in Psychology (Experimental, Clinical, Counseling, or Social), Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in research and/or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, and an ability to troubleshoot day-to-day challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and supervise others.
  • Knowledge of military mental health, military family mental health, and/or suicidology highly desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
