Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for a postdoctoral research position focused on bacterial pathogenesis. This role will contribute to the understanding of the intracellular pathogen Shigella flexneri, a significant cause of bacillary dysentery worldwide, which results in numerous health complications each year.

Position Overview:

  • Collaborate with a senior researcher for guidance and dissemination of research outcomes.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
  • MD or PhD in Immunology or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Experience with in vivo models, particularly involving murine systems.
  • 1-2 years of experience in tissue culture with both cell lines and primary cells.
  • Proven history of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
This position is contingent upon ongoing funding and offers a competitive salary of up to $60,000 annually.
