Position Overview:
The Schulman Laboratory within the Pharmacology Department at the Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to support our team in investigating the mechanisms governing transcription by members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. This role will also delve into the connections between lipid metabolism, inflammation, and neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
The Research Scientist will manage the daily operations of various research initiatives, collaborate with the Principal Investigator to formulate research strategies, interpret findings, and prepare manuscripts for scientific publication.

Research Focus:
The successful candidate will utilize innovative mouse models developed in our lab, which facilitate the spatial and temporal modulation of lipid metabolism through small molecules. This position necessitates proficiency in molecular biology, physiology, pharmacology, and biochemistry, alongside the ability to make ethical decisions in research.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field by the time of appointment. A background in gene regulation, neuroscience, neuro-immunology, immunology, or metabolism, demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed journals, is essential. Experience with rodent models is preferred.

Employment Terms:
Postdoctoral positions are typically available to individuals who have obtained their doctoral degree within the last five years. This is a 12-month position with the potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability. Salary will be aligned with educational background and experience.
