The Department of Pharmacology at UVA School of Medicine seeks applications for Research Associate OR Research Scientist. This position will join the Bayliss Lab. The focus of this position is to perform molecular, cellular, and systems level neuroscience research aimed at a multi-scale understanding of chemosensory and cardiorespiratory brainstem neurons.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree(s) in hand by start date. Preferred applicants will have an interest in cellular/molecular neurobiology, preferably with experience in imaging, optogenetic and/or electrophysiological approaches and a desire to apply those to in vivo behavioral analysis.

Research Associate

Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
