Position Overview

The Market Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the market and seafood displays are consistently stocked, organized, and maintained with high-quality prepackaged products. This role collaborates with market staff to prepare, package, and label items as necessary while fostering a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior management to mentor and develop team members, as well as to plan, assign, and oversee daily operations.
  • Assists management in analyzing historical sales data, promotional activities, and inventory levels. Co-manages stock levels using effective inventory management techniques.
  • Plays a vital role in enhancing sales performance, financial outcomes, public relations, product standards, and operational excellence.
  • Monitors incoming inventory, ensures accurate product delivery, and verifies associated documentation.
  • Prepares and packages products, utilizing both manual and precision tools to achieve desired specifications.
  • Upholds quality assurance and food safety protocols, ensuring that products are properly dated and rotated.
  • Organizes coolers and freezers in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Encourages product sales through effective customer engagement and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maintains a welcoming and customer-focused environment by greeting patrons, addressing inquiries, and processing orders.
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary workspace by adhering to established safety protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient understanding of market operations.
  • Familiarity with in-store ordering systems and inventory management.
  • Competence in scheduling software applications.
  • Ability to read and operate various digital equipment and scales.
  • Capability to safely handle and maintain departmental tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in operating manual or electric pallet jacks.
  • Skilled in using sharp tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one or more years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in meat cutting or management training is preferred.
  • Food Handler certification is mandatory.
  • Manager Food Safety certification is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to see clearly at various distances and depths.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing or walking.
  • Frequent use of hands for reaching, handling, and manipulating objects.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, or stoop as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 40 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Attendance is essential for this role.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a retail setting.
  • Regular exposure to cold environments and wet conditions.
  • Frequent interaction with equipment that has sharp edges.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and moderate to loud noise levels.
