Job Overview
The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of accounting functions to ensure adherence to GAAP, corporate guidelines, and both internal and external audits. This role includes managing accounts payable, facilitating the monthly account closures, and preparing comprehensive reports that support the financial statements.

This position reports directly to the Controller and collaborates closely with other departments to analyze and reconcile accounts while developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The role requires managing multiple accounting tasks under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate recording of all incurred costs, reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing reports, including inter/intra-company transactions and foreign currency reconciliations.
  • Draft detailed journal entries and conduct thorough account analyses.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement and establishment of accounting policies and procedures, including reviewing and implementing training for process and system modifications.
  • Prepare documentation and correspondence for finance and tax audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies within a JSOX framework.
  • Review government reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Examine sub-ledger reports (A/P, A/R, FA, CA modules) and ensure alignment with the trial balance.
  • Manage Fixed Assets records and supervise physical inventory as required.
  • Lead the Accounts Payable team.
  • Engage in strategic financial initiatives, including upgrades and implementation of ERP systems.
  • Provide management with recommendations regarding short- and long-term financial objectives and policies, ensuring adherence to company policies and implementing measures to detect and prevent fraud.
  • Assist in gathering information for tax return preparation.
  • Supervise the team to ensure motivation and provide necessary support for their job responsibilities.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills

Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required.
  • Proven ability in effective team management.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in both written and verbal communication in Japanese is essential.
