The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee a variety of accounting functions to ensure adherence to GAAP, corporate guidelines, and both internal and external audits. This role involves managing the accounts payable process, monthly account closures, and the preparation of financial statement support reports.
The Senior Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the Controller and other team members in analyzing and reconciling accounts, as well as in the development and execution of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. This position requires handling tight deadlines and numerous accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate recording of all incurred costs, reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing reports, including inter/intra-company transactions and foreign currency reconciliations.
- Prepare comprehensive journal entries and account analyses.
- Engage in the continuous development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures, as well as operational strategies, including reviewing and implementing process and system changes.
- Prepare documentation and correspondence for finance and tax audits.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies within a JSOX framework.
- Review government reports on a monthly, quarterly, and/or annual basis.
- Examine sub-ledger reports (A/P, A/R, FA, CA modules) and reconcile them with the trial balance.
- Manage Fixed Assets records and supervise physical inventory as required.
- Lead the Accounts Payable team.
- Participate in strategic financial initiatives, including upgrades and implementations of ERP software.
- Provide management with recommendations on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures while establishing effective techniques to detect and prevent fraud.
- Assist in compiling information for tax return preparation.
- Supervise the team to ensure motivation and provide adequate support for fulfilling their job responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Skills
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required.
- Proven team management capabilities.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication in Japanese is essential.
