Job Description

La-Z-Boy Incorporated is a leading manufacturer of comfort-related products, with a global presence and a commitment to innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Market Sales Manager.

Job Summary:

This is a leadership role that requires relocation to the Chicago, IL area. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of store managers, driving sales and metric growth, and implementing company initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing a team, improving team performance, and driving business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routinely visit stores within the market to review store standards, metrics, and personnel.
  • Involved in all hiring and firing within the market, including interviewing management-level store personnel.
  • Act as the point person for driving company initiatives within the market, helping to drive adherence to the company business plan and developing strategies to address opportunities.
  • Holds meetings and calls to evaluate and drive core company sales metrics, working with store teams to understand how to drive growth in each metric and coaching on improvement.
  • Responsible for the P&L performance for all stores in the market, reviewing each statement with store leadership teams and coaching for improvement.
  • Works with store teams on company sales processes and product knowledge, helping to train on different programs within the store.

Scope and Impact:

This role is responsible for 10-18 stores with an annual revenue of $20-40 million. The successful candidate will be accountable for meeting budgets and sales goals, driving business metrics, and leading a team of 10-18 direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Arts, or Business Administration with 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Up to 80% travel.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building effective and productive working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven analytical ability, utilizing information technologies to manage the business and translate into strategic plans.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for directing 10-15 other employees' daily work activities and undertaking employment actions, including hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Office environment, with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
