The Licensed Electrical Engineer will deliver electrical engineering support across various sites within the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility, undertaking a range of tasks and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, reviewing the work of other electrical engineers for compliance with codes and criteria.
  • Ensure the professional quality, technical precision, and coordination of all designs, drawings, specifications, and services.
  • Conduct site assessments to verify existing conditions of electrical installations and facility systems, integrating these findings into renovation or rehabilitation designs.
  • Demonstrate experience in construction management, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Work a standard 40-hour week during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in electrical facility schematic design and development, including assessing existing electrical systems.
  • Professional registration as a Licensed Electrical Engineer, with at least five years under registration, from a U.S. state, Commonwealth, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
  • A secret clearance is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA 70 (NEC), NESC, and DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
  • Proficient in current AutoCAD and other design and office software.
  • Familiarity with specification development and coordination using government-based specification software.
  • Experience in conducting site assessments to confirm existing conditions of electrical installations and incorporating these into renovation designs.
  • Background in construction management, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver high-level presentations to senior leadership.
  • Competence in reviewing contractor submissions and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
