About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Data Center Design Engineering team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our data centers, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, electrical distribution, and lighting systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, plumbing, and architectural engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other building systems.
  • Develop and maintain electrical design documentation, including plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations, and to verify the installation of electrical systems.
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of electrical systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve electrical design and engineering processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering, with a focus on data center electrical systems.
  • Professional Engineering License and knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Experience with electrical design software, including AutoCAD and electrical design software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex electrical systems and develop creative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering, with a focus on data center electrical systems.
  • Experience with fast-track design/build projects, multiple significant upgrade projects, large-scale technical operations, or large-scale compute farms.
  • Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Ability to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
