We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. as a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering. This is a critical role that will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our data centers.
Key Responsibilities- Data Center Electrical Designs: Collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set for data center electrical designs.
- Design Development: Create designs that meet or exceed quality requirements and fall within budgetary requirements.
- Compliance and Regulations: Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Equipment Submittals: Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Project Scope and Technical Support: Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases.
- Commissioning and Testing: Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
- Concurrent Projects: Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Site Reviews and Engineering Evaluations: Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed.

Requirements- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or 12 years of relevant electrical experience.
- Industrial or Commercial Electrical Design Experience: 7 years of experience with industrial or commercial electrical design.
- Design Documentation: 9 years of experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting.
- Professional Engineering License: Professional Engineering License and knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- Research and Development: Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Creative Problem-Solving: An ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
- Technical Expertise: Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Fast Track Design/Build Projects: Experience with fast track design/build projects, multiple significant upgrade projects, large-scale technical operations, or large-scale compute farms.
