Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist current TRIO students in identifying obstacles to their academic achievement, creating personalized plans to overcome these challenges, and enhancing study skills such as time management, note-taking, and test preparation.
  • Engage directly with students to explore effective study techniques tailored to specific courses, maintaining regular communication to evaluate academic progress and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Support TRIO students on academic probation or those who have been readmitted by developing and updating success plans through regular meetings.
  • Collaborate with Professional Advisors, Faculty Advisors, Disability Services, Tutoring Services, and other campus resources to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Utilize the EAB Navigate system to document detailed notes on student interactions and identify students flagged through Academic Early Alert.
  • Follow up with students based on alerts, progress reports, and referrals from faculty and staff within the student success collaborative case management database.
  • Design and deliver workshops and lessons for students focusing on college readiness, academic success strategies, and essential college knowledge, while maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching sessions and workshops, making adjustments as needed.
  • Foster collegial relationships with faculty, academic advisors, and other departments, referring students to additional resources when necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Willingness to learn EAB Navigate and other student management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to comply with FERPA regulations.
  • Capacity to multi-task, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and manage competing priorities.
  • Effective listening skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background similar to participants.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with underrepresented student populations.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to supervise student field trips.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods and annual performance reporting.
