Position Overview

The Healthcare Specialist is a vital member of the nursing education team, responsible for ensuring that all simulation tools and equipment are properly maintained, organized, and ready for each educational scenario. This role includes oversight of the student laboratory, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and prepared according to the curriculum requirements. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding customer service skills, as they will engage with both faculty and students regularly. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the use of simulation in healthcare training environments.
  • Prepares and maintains laboratory equipment and materials essential for simulation activities.
  • Operates patient simulators throughout various simulation exercises.
  • Assists in training faculty on the operation of simulation equipment and collaborates on maintenance and troubleshooting of any issues that arise.
  • Prepares and dismantles rooms for different simulation scenarios.
  • Provides recommendations regarding equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operational manuals.
  • May be responsible for operating and maintaining audio/visual equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in healthcare simulation and experience in customer service.
  • Familiarity with databases, internet applications, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Proficient in using PCs, the internet, simulation equipment, and basic nursing tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience in simulation within an educational institution or similar environment.
