Position Overview

The Healthcare Specialist is a vital member of the nursing education team, responsible for the upkeep, arrangement, storage, and sanitation of all simulation apparatus for each educational scenario. This role also includes oversight of the student laboratory, ensuring all materials are prepared, organized, and dismantled in accordance with the curriculum. The individual will manage inventory levels of essential supplies for the skills lab. Exceptional customer service skills are required as this position involves regular interaction with faculty and students. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing Services, this role is crucial for the success of the educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the use of simulation technology in healthcare training environments.
  • Prepares and maintains all laboratory equipment and materials pertinent to simulation activities.
  • Operates patient simulators throughout the simulation exercises.
  • Assists in training faculty on the effective use of simulation tools and collaborates on maintenance and troubleshooting of simulation equipment.
  • Prepares and organizes spaces for various simulation activities.
  • Provides insights on equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for effective simulations.
  • Stays updated on simulation equipment catalogs and operational manuals.
  • May handle and maintain audio/visual technology.

Qualifications:

  • Genuine interest in healthcare simulation and prior customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with databases, internet applications, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Proficient in using PCs, the internet, simulation tools, and basic nursing equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience in a simulation role within an educational setting or similar environment.
