Position: Operations Coordinator

Location: Republic Airport

Reports to: Operations Manager

Core Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Operations Coordinator is responsible for various tasks at Republic Airport, adhering to operational requirements during assigned shifts. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the airport facility.

Key Duties:

  • Conducts inspections and maintains documentation of all aeronautical areas, including pavement, markings, lighting, safety zones, wildlife management, and fueling practices. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and reports any issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Oversees airport operations and addresses operational challenges with the help of service contract personnel. Identifies and mitigates hazards to airport operations, including wildlife, obstructions, and maintenance conditions.
  • Responsible for Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) duties during assigned shifts. Operates emergency equipment and responds to all airport alerts, emergencies, and incidents.
  • Maintains records of aircraft activities during shifts, collects landing fees, and assists in providing necessary services.
  • Handles airport operational responsibilities during snow removal, including operating equipment and performing snow removal tasks in designated areas.
  • Conducts security inspections of airport facilities, responding to unauthorized access and monitoring surveillance systems during shifts.
  • Coordinates construction and maintenance activities near the airport to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Maintains records related to wildlife hazards, licenses, equipment, and training.
  • Monitors noise abatement practices of aircraft to ensure compliance with established procedures and maintains records of citizen complaints.
  • Ensures a clean and orderly working environment and adheres to uniform standards while on duty.
  • This position requires shift work.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Operations Coordinator or Operations Manager.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance and participates in required training sessions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years of airport experience, preferably in operations. A degree in Aviation Management may substitute for experience.
  • Possession of a valid N.Y.S. driver's license. Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License suitable for operating all airport vehicles during the probationary period.
  • Must acquire a New York State Unarmed Security Guard License upon hiring.
  • Knowledge and experience in general aviation, corporate, and commercial operations.
  • Ability to meet company standards, including passing initial and recurrent tests to maintain proficiency.
  • Must obtain all necessary licenses or certifications as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Probationary periods apply for various operational duties and certifications.
  • Physical demands may include lifting, moving, and handling weights of up to or over 50 pounds.
  • Work conditions may involve exposure to adverse weather, airport emergencies, and mandatory overtime.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions is expected.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and effectively communicating with groups.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must maintain a valid NYS driver's license as a condition of employment.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. Must be able to lift and move items as necessary.
