Job Overview

Harlequin Design New York Inc is looking for a talented and experienced Automotive Finishing Specialist to lead our spray operations and guarantee exceptional quality finishes on various display projects. The successful candidate will possess significant expertise in using polyurethane (PU) paints and a solid background in applying finishes to materials such as MDF, which are frequently utilized in retail environments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily functions of the spray shop, ensuring timely completion of tasks to meet high-quality standards.
  • Expertly apply PU paints and other coatings to MDF and diverse materials used in the creation of retail displays.
  • Manage the processes of preparation, priming, sanding, and finishing, ensuring that all surfaces are adequately treated.
  • Maintain and adjust spray equipment to guarantee peak performance and uniform results.
  • Lead and mentor a team of spray technicians, offering support and direction to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the spraying process, making necessary adjustments to uphold company standards.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to comprehend project specifications and ensure that finishes align with the intended vision.
  • Ensure the spray shop is clean and organized, complying with all health and safety regulations.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements, new products, and techniques to enhance the quality of our finishes.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as an Automotive Finishing Specialist or in a comparable position, with a strong focus on PU paint application.
  • Familiarity with spraying MDF and finishing retail displays is highly advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of spray equipment, techniques, and finishing methodologies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a dedication to producing superior finishes.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret design specifications and technical drawings.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
