Job Summary

GE Vernova is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operations Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment, including diesel engines, emergency generators, and heat recovery steam generators.
  • Perform routine inspections and tests to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Monitor and maintain data logs and records, including meter and gauge readings, water test results, and fuel consumption.
  • Assist in plant shutdown and startup procedures, and operate all plant equipment within scope of responsibility.
  • Perform routine maintenance of basic plant equipment, and report any conflicts to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Aggressively maintain a safe working environment, including good housekeeping practices and compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Respond to alarms and malfunctions, and take necessary corrective measures per the instruction of the Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance activities as directed, and complete Lock Out Tag Out duties in accordance with site procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years of Power Plant or Industrial Operating Experience.
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Instrumentation, or Power Plant Operations with a minimum of 1 year Power Plant experience.
  • Valid driver's license, and ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, walk/stand for up to 12 hours, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass a drug test, and complete physical and other evaluations for hearing and respirator use upon hire and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Instrumentation, or Power Plant Operations from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Combined Cycle Power Plant Operating Experience.
  • Ability to incorporate teamwork into daily operating and safety work tasks.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, and deal with several variables.
