Overview
This role is situated within the Bonneville Power Administration, specifically in the Geomatics division of Real Property Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering surveying and mapping solutions to support various BPA initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
As a Land Surveying Technician, your duties will include:

  • Conducting and overseeing Route Surveys to provide engineering and construction support, ensuring alignment with real property rights and organizational standards.
  • Engaging in the management and execution of BPA's Terrestrial Scanning program, which requires extensive knowledge of field data collection, processing, and archiving to facilitate Capital projects and BPA's Utility Network.
  • Employing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and terrestrial survey data for transmission line and facility projects in accordance with established surveying standards.
  • Implementing survey methodologies and techniques involving state plane coordinates, horizontal and vertical datums, network adjustments, and geodetic surveying to effectively manage control surveys.
  • Establishing and maintaining a standardized documentation and workflow process for the Terrestrial Scanning program, covering aspects from fieldwork to data processing and budget oversight.
  • Compiling surveys, legal documents, historical survey data, and engineering information to support project scoping and development.
  • Reviewing Records of Surveys, Boundary Line Adjustments, Partition Plats, and other official documents produced by licensed Professional Land Surveyors, ensuring compliance with state and county regulations.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:

  • Applying technical principles and methods of land surveying and mapping, including the use of relevant technologies to measure distances, elevations, and land features to produce comprehensive mapping products.
  • Researching legal records and historical boundaries to ascertain boundary locations and validate survey results, ensuring data accuracy and preparing necessary documentation for assigned projects.
