Production Operations Leader

Praxair is in search of a Production Operations Leader to enhance our team. This role will focus on overseeing daily operational activities and supporting management in service, production, manufacturing, and maintenance to achieve business goals in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The Production Operations Leader will supervise production staff and ensure operational efficiency, meeting established quality, productivity, and cost targets while adhering to safety and compliance standards. Additionally, this position will spearhead training and compliance initiatives within the plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and oversight for daily operations, leading a team of entry-level production personnel to fulfill the demands of both external and internal clients.
  • Coordinate production activities to satisfy daily distribution needs, including local delivery routes and shuttle operations.
  • Support daily distribution requirements effectively.
  • Champion reliability, compliance, quality, and safety initiatives for the designated area, ensuring adherence to government and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure that the team is thoroughly trained and committed to conducting their activities in line with all aspects of safety and quality systems, collaborating with the Compliance Manager for training coordination.
  • Monitor production and manpower levels within the area of responsibility to maintain efficiency, proactively addressing potential issues and developing contingency plans, while reporting any concerns to plant management.
  • Facilitate communication with first shift counterparts to ensure seamless operations and proper handoff of production tasks.
  • Identify challenges and lead improvement initiatives in production processes, shift schedules, and training, while reporting all activities to plant management.
  • Manage and escalate equipment and product quality concerns as necessary.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of production supplies.
  • Oversee inventory management and complete necessary shipping documentation.
  • Support 5S and Lean initiatives, continuously seeking opportunities to reduce operational costs through the application of Operational Excellence strategies.
  • Address routine personnel matters, including training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial plant environment required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing and developing employees required.
  • Salary Range: $60,000 - $88,000
