OBJECTIVE: This role is critical to ensuring safety and compliance. The position assists the Liquor Manager in enhancing wine, beer, and spirits knowledge and marketing initiatives by supporting the creation, communication, and implementation of fundamental programs. The individual will provide exceptional service to customers and oversee promotional and merchandising strategies, as well as training initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Liquor Supervisor in strategizing, executing, and evaluating beer, wine, and spirits merchandising initiatives.
- Engage with customers to discuss various beverage options and assist in their selection and food pairing decisions. Foster strong customer relationships and promote special orders.
- Organize and facilitate tastings and educational seminars aimed at enhancing customer and employee knowledge to boost sales performance.
- Ensure proper presentation and sale of all beverage products, advising customers on quality and handling practices.
- Maintain profit margins in line with the established budget, focusing on sales targets, cost management, and product selection.
- Oversee the requisitioning, receiving, storage, and inventory management of beverage products, ensuring optimal stock levels.
- Promote excellent customer service and a strong work ethic among team members.
- Provide expertise on current merchandising and promotional processes, including weekly advertisements and product selection.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Liquor Supervisor, including product ordering and stocking.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the wine, beer, and spirits industry or a related business field, with a solid grasp of marketing, merchandising, and financial management.
- Stay informed about the latest industry trends and developments.
- Prior experience in retail operations with a focus on beverage sales and merchandising.
- Ability to analyze profit and loss statements and understand their impact on managed categories.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Proficient technical and computer skills for online customer engagement.
- Must meet qualifications to handle and sell alcoholic beverages.
- Knowledge of local regulations and company policies regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Liquor Supervisor or management.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Physical activities include bending, twisting, reaching, and working in cool environments.
- Climbing ladders for stocking and signage purposes.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Utilization of calculators, computers, telephones, and other office equipment during the workday.
