Position Overview

The Lead Sleep Technology Specialist will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the sleep clinic, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. This role involves conducting home sleep studies, interpreting results, and overseeing the setup and management of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) devices, as well as maintaining sleep-related inventory. The specialist will utilize telehealth solutions to facilitate patient interactions and coordinate care across various locations within the healthcare system as necessary. This position operates under the guidance of the Sleep Section supervisory technician and clinical staff within the Neurology Department.

This position is open to:
  • Current federal employees in excepted service.
  • Internal candidates within the agency.
  • All U.S. Citizens and Nationals.
Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will undertake Lead Technician duties, which include but are not limited to:

1. Distributing and balancing workloads to ensure timely completion of tasks and maintaining productivity among team members.

2. Monitoring work progress and making necessary adjustments to meet deadlines, seeking supervisory assistance when challenges arise.

3. Estimating completion times for tasks and maintaining accurate records of work performed and time spent.

4. Providing on-the-job training to staff in accordance with established protocols and resources.

5. Staying informed about procedures, policies, and directives to effectively address inquiries and resolve issues.

6. Reviewing ongoing work and completed tasks to confirm adherence to established procedures and timelines.

Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday to Friday.

Telework: This position does not support telework.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
  • Certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, maneuver equipment, and assist patients as needed.
